A New Year’s Poem

The Year 2010

The New Year is stretched before us

Like a cloak of fresh new snow,

Like a piece of unlined paper,

Like a field before it’s sown.

Like the waters of the ocean,

Like the wide expanse of sky,

Like the grasses of the prairie

Like the desert-though it’s dry.

Like an un-composed new chorus

Like a book before it’s wrote,

Like a tale before the telling

Like a word before it’s spoke.

And sometimes this can frighten us

To not know what’s ahead,

But here’s a quick suggestion

To keep our courage fed.

Let our Father up in Heaven

Be the One to hold the pen

That writes each smallest detail

Of the year two thousand ten.

Let Him be the One to hold us

When trials come our way

And we will have a joyful year

Through each and every day.

So may you have a Happy New Year

Filled with joy and peace,

And may the blessings of the Father

On you e’er increase.

What a lovely poem, Tammy! Thank you for joining my mailing list! I just became a FB fan of yours. I suspect you and I love many of the same things. :-)
